You have seen everyone rave about journalling with the fancy notebooks and pens and aesthetic images of people deep in thought right?
But the idea of that both terrifies you and confuses you at the same time? You are thinking why is there an adult version of dear diary?
You can’t even understand how you are feeling let alone write pages and pages of your thoughts which people seem to be writing. And the prompts baffle you even more right? Feels like you are interviewing yourself?
It is okay. It really is.
Way before I started journalling (which confused and scared the hell out of me too btw!) I started small. As someone who often struggled to articulate how I felt, my first step was just identifying the emotion. Any by emotion I mean whether I was anxious or not anxious (I told you I started small!). Slowly but surely I then was able to start tuning in a bit more to build on that and started identifying emotions from the emotional wheel. I labelled each day with how I felt and started there.
You can too.
The below downloadable tracker just asks you to identify one emotion a day. I have linked the emotional wheel I used too for whenever you are ready.
We can worry about what comes after. For now just start here.
You’ve got this!
